Gaming hardware: platform, controllers and storage

Keep games, accessories and storage standards aligned with the exact platform you choose.

Start with the games and play format

Decide which games you want to play and whether you need handheld or TV use. Nintendo Switch 2 supports several play formats, but a console name alone does not settle every game's compatibility. Check each title and any accessory it needs. Compare a console bundle with another bundle containing the same useful items, rather than counting unrelated extras.

Check controller connections by device

The Xbox Wireless Controller uses Xbox Wireless on supported consoles and Bluetooth on compatible other devices. Confirm the operating system and device in the compatibility list; do not assume it connects to any console with Bluetooth. Distinguish AA batteries from an optional rechargeable pack, and confirm the cable or pack you need in the actual package.

Treat storage and display claims as separate checks

Some Switch 2 internal storage is reserved for the system. Its expansion slot uses microSD Express; an ordinary microSD card is not the same purchase. Check the screen or TV mode relevant to your games when reading resolution and refresh-rate claims. Storage capacity, card standard and included games should remain identical when comparing prices.
